Tendring District Council (TDC) will upon request from an employee/member/apprentice who is a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) user, provide a voucher for the cost of an eyesight test. The current nominated opticians are Specsavers.
The Councils Corporate Health and Safety team request that the user book in for their eye test before requesting the voucher. The appointment should be at a time convenient to the them, but arranged to minimise disruption to the working day and then contact healthandsafety@tendringdc.gov.uk who will send you a voucher once the date of the appointment has been confirmed. This is to ensure that any vouchers issued are not wasted, saving the council money.

In addition to the above, when the prescription in the spectacles is required specifically and solely for intermediate use, you will receive a pair of single-vision glasses from the £50 range or a £50 contribution towards another pair.
Please note that not everyone will be eligible for the £50 contribution, it does not give a contribution for spectacles which, as well as VDU use, could also be used for additional tasks such as reading or driving even if this is not their recommended use. Your employer is only obligated to provide you with a VDU specific appliance. Should you use your existing spectacles for general use including VDU work you will NOT be entitled to any additional contribution.
